Areas of Practice
Computer aided design
We use SolidWorks CAD for all of our design work. CAD allows us to quickly modify and update design changes to quickly iterate through a design, arriving at the best possible solution as quickly as possible. SolidWorks also affords us a seamless interaction with the Simulation software. Our CAD software allows us to fully document the design as well as output solid body models and drawings for prototyping as well as manufacturing.
User focused design
Every device has users, from the end user to all the intermediate users as well. We focus on ensuring that each user that interacts with the device has the best possible experience with the device. A user that is satisfied with their interaction with a device is more likely to use that device as intended. We love to get feedback from users at the early stages of development about our device or a competitors; this information is invaluable in helping to determine what features the users will respond well to and what features they will not. Designing a device for a group of design engineers intimately familiar with the product rarely results in a design beloved by the users. We design for the users, not the engineers.
FEA Simulation
SolidWorks Simulation allows us to virtually test a potential design, find any potential failure points, modify the design and test again. The iterative process can quickly help a design converge toward an optimal solution. This allows us to test a device on the computer quickly and cost effectively before the expensive and time consuming process of building physical parts and physically testing them.
Creative problem solving
Medical devices often require creative solutions to difficult and complicated problems. We are firm believers in the saying, “If it were easy, it would already be done.” We specialize in looking at problems from multiple angles to find the best solution to a challenge, not just the easiest. Just because a solution is difficult though, doesn’t mean that the solution has to be complicated. We are firm believers in keeping solutions as simple as possible. More complication usually just adds more opportunity for failure. If a simple elegant solution solves the problem, we don’t find a need for the complicated one.
Photorealistic renderings
Photographs of products are an important tool of marketing any device. We are able to generate photorealistic renderings from CAD models, using realistic materials and lighting, removing the need to wait for physical product to be manufactured before photographs can be taken for marketing purposes. This will allow the marketing team to be up and running with their materials as the physical product is rolling off the assembly line.
Documentation
While not the sexiest or most exciting, thorough documentation is vitally important to the design and manufacturing of medical devices. We don’t mind that it is most people’s least favorite part of the design process, because we understand how important it is to your company and device’s success. We can assist with any and all necessary documentation to ensure compliance and safety of your devices.
